NIELIT

National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT),(erstwhile DOEACC Society), an Autonomous Scientific Society under the administrative control of Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY), Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India, was set up to carry out Human Resource Development and related activities in the area of Information, Electronics & Communications Technology (IECT). NIELIT is engaged both in Formal & Non-Formal Education in the area of IECT besides development of industry oriented quality education and training programmes in the state-of-the-art areas. NIELIT has endeavoured to establish standards to be the country’s premier institution for Examination and Certification in the field of IECT. It is also one of the National Examination Body, which accredits institutes/organizations for conducting courses in IT in the non-formal sector.

The objective of the course is to enable a student to acquire the knowledge pertaining to fundamentals of Information Technology (IT Tools and Business Systems, Internet Technology and Web design, Programming and Problem Solving through ‘C’ Language, Application of .NET Technology, Introduction to Multimedia, Introduction to ICT Resources, a Practical and Project Work).

The Dept. of Information Technology, Ministry of communication & IT( formerly , Department of Electronics Govt. of India) is operating a scheme namely, the Department of Electronics Accredited Computer Courses ( DOEACC ). This scheme is an outcome of a Working group set up byAll India Council for Technical Education [ AICTE] which is a statutory body for the development of technical education. The AICTE has delegated the responsibility to DIT which has authorized the DOEACC society to implement the scheme. Under this scheme, computer training institutes / organization in nonformal sector subject to meet well defined norms & criteria are given accreditation for conducting specific levels ofcourses.

The NIELIT courses are divided into four levels
DOEACC ‘O’ - Foundation Level DOEACC ‘A’ -Advanced Diploma
DOEACC ‘B’ - MCA Equivalent DOEACC ‘C’- M.Tech. ( Comp. Sc.& Engg.)

Major Components of NIELIT Scheme :

Accreditation

Accreditation to institute is granted by NIELIT keeping in view the norms & standards prescribed by Department of Information Technology , Ministry of Communication & Information Technology , Govt of India & AICTE.

Examination

NIELIT conducts examinations on an all India basis for all the levels in January & July each year. These are conducted independently by an examination board consisting of experts/ professionals from premier academic institutes & software houses.

Registration

With DOEACC society , registration is a prerequisite for candidates appearing in examinations. Registration is valid for specified period . A candidate can register only for a particular level once. Registration is open throughout the year. However, cutoff dates have been prescribed for receipt of completed registration form. For ‘O’ Level Jan Exam and July Exam cut of date is 30th June and 31st December resp. Whereas for A/B/C Level Jan & July exam, the cut of date is 31st July and 31 Jan resp.
